Welcome to the special edition of CRAICCHS’ Newsletter covering our Opening and Smoking Ceremony and NAIDOC Day Celebrations. A wonderful day of culture, family, friends and fun!
For those who are not familiar with Community: The artwork on the front page of the newsletter features a photograph of one of the Wakka Wakka Dancers, the Aboriginal flag (red, yellow and black), the Torres Strait Islander flag (blue, green and white), CRAICCHs echidna, and other native animals in traditional art style, within a traditional dot painting background. The picture tells a story from sea creatures (barramundi) moving through the water to animals of the land (kangaroo and echidna) to land creatures that can move on trees (the gecko) to creatures of the air (dragon flies). Sea, land and air is integrated with the flags of the First Nation’s people to show connection between the people, country and culture.
